Have you ever just looked around at the world and felt like screaming?

Why am I even asking? Of course you have. We all have, especially over the past year.

Now, I don't want to tell you how to let all that rage and dismay out, because that's entirely up to you (as long as no one's getting hurt). But, I do have a suggestion.

Instead of wasting a perfectly good scream into a pillow or on the eardrums of a bunch of terrified and confused birds outside your window, how about putting it to good use?

There's a phone number you can call now through January 21 and just scream into the phone. Not only will you be letting off steam, but you'll also be contributing to a...let's say "interesting" art project.

Elementary school teacher and artist Chris Gollmar set up the Just Scream! line at 1-561-567-8431 and justscream.baby. (Yes, that's a legitimate website. I kid you not.)

Gollmar describes himself as as a "generally rather quiet person", and set all this up as a "participatory art project". All you have to do to be part of it is call 1-561-567-8431, scream as loudly and as long as you'd like into the phone, and hang up. There's no one on the other end. Your call is simply recorded and added to the other screams the line has received, which will all be made available for the world to hear. (So don't scream any personal information into the phone, please.)

Again, Gollmar's cutting it off on January 21, so if you'd like your scream to echo through art eternity, be sure to call in the next couple of days.

You can actually hear other people's screams on his website, as well as non-scream content like New Year's greetings and words of hope and encouragement people have left instead. There are even archived calls of people laughing.

You can hear all the audio they've made public so far here. I called and left my scream (interrupted by an awkward laugh about halfway through), so I'm looking forward to hearing it once the project's all wrapped up.

As weird as this is, I think it's pretty cool. We could all use a good scream after the year we've had.
