Tragic! Texas Man Dies After Trying to Shoot Firework Off His Head
Now that the 4th of July is over, most of us are missing the beauty and boom of the fireworks. Sadly, one family is mourning the loss of someone who tried to do something reckless with fireworks and paid the ultimate price.
WHAT HAPPENED ON THE 4TH OF JULY?
Police were called to the 800 block of Harriman Place on the southwest side of town, where a man later identified as 43-year-old Pablo Ruiz had tried the stunt with a mortar-style firework.
WHAT ARE OFFICIALS SAYING?
The officers say they believe fireworks explode from the bottom of the tube, which instantly pierced the man's skull. He was unresponsive when paramedics arrived, and died a short time later.
Sadly, witnesses said drinking was involved, which probably didn't come as much of a surprise to first responders.
PLEASE BE SAFE WITH YOUR LEFTOVER FIREWORKS
I know a lot of people are still playing with fireworks and having a little fun with them not wanting to waste the leftover fireworks, but please remember to be very careful and cautious with handling explosives. Because yes, that's what they are - explosives. You've got to treat them with care and respect, or you could end up with a stump or losing your life.
Also keep in mind the dry, hot conditions. Do you really want to be the person responsible for starting a wildfire?
Like I said, just be careful and don't mix fireworks and alcohol.
