
Two Dead As Result Of Temple Vehicle Collision
A weekend accident in Temple sent four to the hospital, two of whom later died.
The accident occurred around 3 pm Saturday at the intersection of East Avenue H and South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when the driver of a southbound Chevrolet pickup ran a red light and struck a Ford SUV headed east on Avenue H. The pickup also hit a Nissan sedan that was stopped at the MLK light.
The driver of the pickup – 55-year-old David Smallwood of Austin - and two passengers sustained life-threatening injuries and were taken to Scott and White Memorial Hospital. Smallwood passed away a short time later and one of the passengers passed away early Sunday morning.
One person riding in the Nissan was taken to Scott and White with non-life-threatening injuries.
