Kieu Hoang, founder of Rare Antibody Antigen Supply, has donated $5 million to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner's Greater Houston Community Foundation to aid in Hurricane Harvey relief.

Hoang is an immigrant and self-made man from Vietnam.

Mayor Turner said the funds would be used to help find permanent housing for people with special needs, the elderly, and low-income families.

The Houston Chronicle reported the story Tuesday. According to the Chronicle piece, the mayor says the city is looking at a cost of $9 million dollars just to assist the people living in the George R Brown Convention Center. The mayor has asked the American Red Cross for an additional $2 million dollars.

Texans are asked to donate to the Greater Houston Community Foundation, which takes care of people not eligible to receive assistance from FEMA. As of this article's publication, the GHCF had raised almost $50 million.
