Hundreds of volunteers wanted in McLennan County to help local physicians and Baylor researchers with a COVID-19 study.

Our partners at News10 report that the Waco Family Health Center, a group of local physicians and Baylor University researchers, are seeking hundreds of McLennan County residents who have not had signs or symptoms of the novel coronavirus for a study on the prevalence of asymptomatic COVID-19 in Central Texas.

The process involves researchers recruiting 750 volunteers to give small blood samples several times throughout the month and over the next few months.

Those who volunteer will not only be able to confirm whether or not they have been exposed to the coronavirus, but will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to receive gift cards from H-E-B valued from $10 to $100.

Anyone 18 or older who has lived in McLennan County since at least December of 2019 is welcome to participate. Personal information from volunteers will remain confidential.
