Temperatures are expected to plunge into the 20s overnight, with a frozen start to Friday. To ensure that those in need are able to keep warm, the Salvation Army in Temple will open a warming station at 5 PM today.

The warming center is located at 419 West Avenue G. Service animals are welcome, and a meal, shower, and laundry facilities will be provided.

If you know someone in need of a place to stay tonight and the services being offered, please pass this information along. If you're someone in need, please don't try to tough it out. Get to this warming center and keep yourself safe. We're talking about actual freezing temperatures here.

For our friends in Killeen, the City will open a warming station at the Killeen Community Center from 9 PM tonight to 8 PM Friday. City officials stress that the station is set up to offer temporary relief from the cold and is not equipped to offer full shelter services.

To our listeners with furry friends, please bring them inside tonight or make sure they have access to a warm, sturdy shelter out of the wind. Make sure any sensitive plants are covered or taken inside as well.

Stay warm, Central Texas.
