The father of a 3-year-old girl reported missing in Richardson, Texas has been arrested after authorities say he left the child alone outside the family home around 3 AM Saturday as punishment for not drinking milk.

According to a report from KTRK-TV, police allege Wesley Mathews, 37, forced toddler Sherin Mathews to stand alone beside a tree near an alley where coyotes are frequently spotted. Mathews reportedly told investigators he went back to check on the girl 15 minutes later and could not find her.

Police say Wesley Mathews waited five hours before reporting his daughter missing. He's been charged with abandoning a child, and posted bond to be released from jail on Sunday.

According to a Facebook post from the Richardson Police Department, Sharin Mathews suffers from developmental issues and has limited verbal communication skills. She's described as being of Indian descent with black hair and brown eyes. She stands three feet tall, weighs around 22 pounds, and was last seen in a pink top and black pajama bottoms.

Investigators are asking that anyone has information about her call the Richardson Police Department at (972) 744-4801. Richardson police have discontinued an Amber Alert issued for Mathews Saturday, but the alert may be reissued depending on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
