If you live in Bell County and planned on lighting a bonfire this weekend, we've got bad news.

The Bell County Commissioner Court voted 5 to 0 Monday to issue a burn ban beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 20, and ending at 10 AM on Monday, August 15.

In a press statement, the Court said it had determined that present circumstances in Bell County pose a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning.

The ban could be lifted prior to August 15 if conditions improve.

Citizens with questions can call the Bell County Fire Marshall's office at (254) 933-5589 or the Burn Ban Hotline at (254) 933-5555.
