An emergency rescue crew from Fort Hood was called to assist a tactical vehicle stranded by flood waters Thursday morning.

According to the Fort Hood Public Affairs Office, Directorate of Emergency Personnel responded to a swift-water rescue call at 11:20 a.m. after a light medium tactical vehicle became stuck in an area near Cold Springs and Owl Creek off East Range Road.

By 12:15 PM, three people had been rescued and air support had been requested.

Updates about the rescue effort are pending.

Meanwhile, Fort Hood officials have closed Georgetown Road and East Range Road due to high water crossing the roadways. Hazardous conditions are expected to rise as rain continues throughout the day.

All traffic has been diverted to Farm and Market Road 116.

Fort Hood residents should stay out of areas subject to flooding. Dips, low spots, canyons, washes, etc., can become filled with water quickly. If you come upon a flowing stream where water is above your ankles, stop, turn around, and go another way. Do not attempt to cross flowing water with your vehicle. Turn around…Don’t drown.
