Ratings released on Thursday show that Belton, Copperas Cove, Killeen, and Temple Independent School Districts all met state standards, though some individual campuses were not up to par.

A new system for school ratings has taken the place of the old reliance on standardized test scores. Schools are now rated based on test scores, graduation rates, and college admission exams in order to calculate the achievement, progress, and college readiness of students, as well as available help for disadvantaged students. Individual schools can receive recognition for improvements.

In Texas, 92 percent of districts and 85 percent of schools met the minimum standards.

All schools in Belton and Copperas Cove met the standards. All schools in Killeen passed with the exception of Eastern Hills Middle School. All schools in Temple met minimum standards except for Lamar Middle School, Bethune Early Childhood Center, Meredith-Dunbar Elementary School, and Raye-Allen Elementary School.
