Nabisco has redesigned the packaging for its famous Barnum's Animals Crackers, which has traditionally depicted animals in cages. The change came after a letter writing campaign from PETA and other animal rights groups.

In an AP story shared by KDFW-TV, Dee-Ann Durbin writes that Illinois-based Mondelez International, which owns Nabisco, began receiving letters from animal rights groups in 2016. These groups had succeeded in convincing Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey to stop using elephants in their shows. (The circus later went out of business due to low ticket sales.)
