18-Wheeler Crash Prompts I-14 Shutdown in Copperas Cove
An 18-wheeler crash prompted the closure of a portion of Interstate 14/U.S. Route 190 in Copperas Cove late Monday morning.
We received the following alert from TxDOT's Kenneth Roberts at 11:41 AM:
TxDOT has closed I-14 from the I-14/Bus 190 split, east of Copperas Cove, to the intersection of I-14/FM 2657/Bus 190, west of Copperas Cove. Closure is due to 18-wheeler crash on the Valley Bridge of the I-14 Reliever around Cove. Length of time for closure is undetermined at this time, pending crash site clearing and repair/replacement of bridge rail. Eastbound and Westbound I-14 traffic at Copperas Cove will be temporarily detoured to Business 190 through the city.
If you'll be headed out on your lunch break soon, definitely skip I-14/US 190, and be sure to let your friends, family, and coworkers know. If you have to drive near the area, be on the lookout for emergency responders and give them plenty of space.
