Gunner grew up in Chicago and left at age 20 to travel the country and work on-air. He's lived all over the place and is now happy to be planted and staying put. When he's not waking up early and hanging out with Gwen on the Lonestar 92.3 Morning Show and playing your favorite country songs, you'll find him in the office working behind the scenes... He is also Brand Manager for Lonestar 92.3 and our sister station, 99.9 KBAT. He's excited to be here and he and his wife Vicki are looking forward to exploring West Texas and taking it all in... playing mini golf, going to movies, or grilling on the patio with the radio on.

It’s Texas Energy Savings Day! But What Does That Really Mean?
So--when I first saw that this was something coming up in September a few weeks back-my initial thought without really looking into what that name meant was--all of us in Texas are being asked to cut back / conserve energy today. Perhaps even as a way to ease the burden on the shaky power grid here for even just one day. It's not unheard of-we had two things similar to this in Chicago- one called "Lights Out" where every day after 11pm, all the buildings downtown would turn all their lights off so that migrating birds wouldn't fly into buildings; and the annual observation of "Earth Hour"-where lights / power are turned off for an hour city-wide for conservation purposes. So the idea wasn't completely foreign to me.
The Great Debate – Steak Sauce or No Steak Sauce – Gunner
Today--it's all about whether or not you should ever put steak sauce in a good steak or not. Gwen is all about the A1.... I am all about a good marinade (usually garlic parmesan) and NO sauce. To me, it takes away the flavor of the meat. You may as well not eat any meat and just put the sauce on a spoon, because it's so overpowering you can't taste anything else. Nothing beats a well-grilled, tender filet that's been sitting in a good marinade for about 90 minutes to 2 hours. Falls right off the fork it's so tender. Why in the world would you want to drown it in sauce?
I Had No Idea We Had This Many Poisonous Snakes In Texas
In my travels this past week I happened to come across a poster with 15 venomous snakes that are all found in Texas in various regions. There may be more for all I know but this poster had 15 listed. So of course, I had to stop and look them up. See what all my family and I could be dealing with in our daily lives. There is a really good resource when it comes to this topic--and even if you're from here and you already know a lot of this--a refresher as the weather starts to get warmer with being just a couple weeks away from the first day of Spring and the risk of encountering one of these rises--isn't a bad idea. Check out THIS website--from Texas Parks and Wildlife. Everything you need is right there to have a safe and happy warm weather season for yourself--and your pets if you're out walking dogs, etc. Be safe out there!
