Beloved Former Midway and Hewitt Principal Dies In Car Accident Along I-35
Former Midway High School Principal Sharron Zachry was killed in an automobile accident Monday on I-35 near West, Texas. Her husband Pat Zachry was injured but survived the accident.
According to Waco Police the accident happened at mile marker 354 along I-35 when the couples pick-up truck rolled from I-35 towards the frontage road.
Zachry was Principal at Castleman Creek Elementary, Hewitt Elementary, and Midway High School during her career. Officials say she was behind the wheel during the accident and that it is believed she had some sort of medical emergency when the accident occurred.
Sharron's husband Zachry is a Waco native who graduated from Waco High School. He went on to a career in Major League Baseball as a pitcher, winning the World Series as a member of the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.
The investigation into the accident is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Our prayers and best wishes go out to her family, friends, and the central Texas community she served.
