Belton Fire Chief Announces Retirement
Belton's fire chief has announced his retirement after three years of service to the city.
Chief Francisco Corona began working for the city in March of 2012 following a 30-year career with the Temple Fire Department.
In a letter to Belton City Manager Sam Listi, Corona said, "I would like to thank you for the professional and personal opportunities that you have provided me during my tenure at this position." Chief Corona also thanked the City Council and the Belton community for support which led to enhancements to the department's public service response, including implementing automated stretchers for ambulances in 2012, the addition of a new ambulance in 2013, and the addition of a new truck in 2015.
In a press released issued Wednesday, Listi expressed his appreciation for Corona's dedication to public service and wished him and his family the best.
Corona's last day in service to the city will be on July 15, 2015. City officials have already begun a state-wide search for a new fire chief.
