Belton ISD Welcomes New Lady Tigers Soccer Coach
The Belton Lady Tigers have a new head soccer coach with a history of success in Central Texas.
Belton ISD Athletics announced Oscar Bersoza as the new head coach for the Belton Lady Tiger Soccer team Monday morning. Bersoza has 17 years of coaching experience and is a familiar face to Belton sports fans.
“This past year working in Belton ISD has been great, and I am thrilled for this new opportunity to lead the Lady Tigers,” Bersoza said. “It’s a team with a strong tradition of excellence, and I look forward to continuing to build upon that.”
Coach Bersoza graduated from The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2000, where he was a four-year letterman who achieved First and Second Team All-Conference player honors. He has previously held the position of head girls soccer coach at Harker Heights High School, Temple High School, and Frisco Heritage High School.
Last season, Coach Bersoza returned to Central Texas with his wife, Laura, and their two children. He joined the Belton Tiger Athletic Department as the Assistant Boys Soccer Coach and helped the team make it to the playoffs. In his coaching career, Bersoza has made eight playoff appearances and earned District Coach of the Year honors three times.
“Coach Bersoza is an outstanding soccer coach and a terrific person,” Athletic Director Mike Morgan said. “He will do a great job leading our program, developing soccer players as well as providing the encouragement and support to help them achieve great things in life."
The Belton Lady Tigers were 6A Region 1 Bi-District Champions this past season, finishing with a 13 – 6 – 4 record.
