Update 5:05 P.M.: Police have released the identity of the suspect. 17-year-old Jacob Ayers fled C.H. Yoe High School in a Red Dodge Charger, which authorities found abandoned just off County Road 221. He is now believed to be driving either a brown or black extended cap pickup truck.

Update 1:10 P.M.: The lockdown at Cameron's C.H. Yoe High School has been lifted. Police say the 17-year-old suspect may have left the city. The 17-year-old stabbing victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Scott & While Hospital in Temple.

Police remain at the school and classes continue, but parents wishing to pick up their children may do so.

Cameron High School was on lockdown Monday afternoon after a student was stabbed in the abdomen with a pencil.

The stabbing occured shortly before noon, and the lockdown was ordered after the attacker fled from the school in a car. School officials say the lockdown will remain in place until Cameron police are able to locate the suspect. Students are being gathered in the cafeteria, and some concerned parents have been arriving to pick up their children.

The victim has been transported to the hospital. There is no word yet on their condition.
