One property owner had his Thanksgiving Day cut short when he was brought into custody by the Navarro County's Sheriff Office. KWTX's Rissa Shaw reported that the arrest came after an investigation involving illegal cockfighting.

The cockfighting ring was allegedly taking place at a property on NW 0185 near Rice. According to Navarro County's Sheriff Office, there were several dead birds and paraphernalia related to cockfighting found on the scene.

The property owner of the location was brought in on charges of animal cruelty. Elmer Tanner, a sheriff of the Navarro County Sheriff's Office, said they had raided the location years ago for the same issue, and the same man was brought into custody at that time as well.
