Driver in Collision with Gravel Truck Dies at Hospital
KWTX's Rhyan Henson reports that a man who was involved in a collision with a gravel truck on Monday passed away on Tuesday.
Travis Havercamp, 37, was severely injured Monday afternoon when his pickup truck crossed the median on U.S. Highway 77. Havercamp slammed directly into the back of the gravel truck.
The accident happened around 12:15 p.m. Monday onthe U.S. Highway 77 bridge beneath Waco Drive just to the west of Interstate 35.
The pickup truck was driving in the northbound direction, and it hit the gravel truck from behind while it was heading in the southbound direction.
The force of Havercamp's truck knocked the back axle off the gravel truck. Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton of the Waco Police Department said, "The driver of the gravel truck was not injured, and the highway was closed in the area of the accident until the wreckage was cleared.
