Driver of Stolen Camaro Rams Police Car in Temple
The driver of a stolen car was arrested Saturday after reportedly hitting a state trooper's vehicle during a chase.
KWTX reports that 23-year-old Garrett Bullard of Alvarado was driving a 2017 Chevy Camaro reported stolen out of Johnson County when he was spotted by the trooper on southbound I35 in Temple.
Bullard refused to stop for the trooper and a chase ensued. At one point, he allegedly rammed the stolen vehicle into the trooper's cruiser.
The chase came to an end around River Bend near FM 2484 shortly after 8:30 AM when Bullard crashed the stolen Camaro. Police say he fled on food, but was later found hiding in an abandoned vehicle.
Online jail records indicate Bullard faces three third-degree felonies, but they were listed as "unknown". KWTX reports that charges include unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault on a peace officer, and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
A previous draft of this story mistakenly gave the suspect's name as Alvarado. This has since been corrected. We apologize for the mistake and any confusion it may have caused.
