Longtime football assistant John Hall, dubbed the nickname "Big John", was honored by the Hamilton, Texas community.

John has helped the local Bulldog football team for the past 15 years in Hamilton. However, John was never able to play for the team.

He was born with a 4th chromosome abnormality causing him to undergo several surgeries, leaving doctors with little optimism for his future.

He pushed on though and started to help out the coaches of the football team in junior high. After graduating he took on a full time job with the school and has improved the lives of the community ever since.

John passed away this January at 33, something that could've happened at any time due to his condition.

“I don’t think he understood how much he meant to the community,” said John's sister-in-law Chelsi Hall. She said that the Bulldog team was his life, and they all loved him.

“You come in having a bad day and it wasn’t long for big john to pick them up,” Football Coach Sonny Delagraza said. With him gone the team struggles to move into the next season.

To honor John the community has started a scholarship in his name, and they have named the Bulldog's field house in his name. This assistant coach has left a famous mark on this small town.
