Geek Out at the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum This Saturday
Geeks unite!
You're invited to a free family event at the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum this Saturday, February 2nd from 11 AM to 2 PM. Whatever your fandom - comics, tabletop games, steampunk, Harry Potter - you can rep it during the Geek Out! Family Day.
You're even encouraged to wear a costume, so dust off the tights or your Hogwarts robes.
“All of us here at the Museum are really geeky at heart,” Curator Angela McCleaf writes about the event. “We are thrilled by the chance to share our passions and ask all of our visitors ‘what do you geek?”.
Special guests include folks from the Bell County Comic Con, Central Texas College's Epically Geeky Expo (formerly known as GeekFest), MECATX, Central Texas Makers, Legos for Littles, and the Central Texas Steampunk Society. Nerdvana will also be there to help anyone interested in getting into Magic: The Gathering.
Activities include making Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle masks and shells, crafting jetpacks to fly away to your favorite fantasy land, Pikachu makeovers. There'll even be props in case you forget your costume.
The Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum hosts a Free Family Day event on the first Saturday of each month. Attendance to the event is free. Regular admission charges apply to view the rest of the museum.
The museum is located in the Santa Fe Depot at 315 West Avenue B in Downtown Temple. The museum is open 10 AM to 4 PM Tuesday through Saturday.
