KWTX's Chelsea Edwards reported that an argument late Thursday morning in the Central Texas town of Killeen escalated into way more than expected.

The very heated argument led to a shooting taking place in a neighborhood, and one victim was sent to a local hospital in critical condition.

Authorities responded to the scene of the gunfire around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, and the location was in the 1700 block of Cole Street.

Killeen Police Department Spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said, “Officers were told that the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that led physical. During the physical altercation, the victim was shot.”

The victim that was shot was taken to AdventHealth Central Texas for their critical injuries, and no further details were available at the time.
