Our Hometown Hero to start the month of March is Migel Mata who has been a volunteer firefighter for the city of Gatesville for five years. While working full-time at EZ Pawn, Migel chose to volunteer much of his spare time to the fire department as it was something he wanted to do ever since he was a child when his father also volunteered at the station.

"I'm a community guy and just want to help - I didn't expect any recognition for it," said the leader for his local church youth group. "I've been here 5 years now and plan to stay. When that pager goes off, I'm ready - knowing I can be there to help somebody."

He's so modest that he didn't even mention winning an award earlier this year, but we found it (sorry Migel!).

Though he works full-time, volunteers as a firefighter and leads a church youth group, he is also an attentive father of four to Alex, Brennen, Cayden and Isabella. Migel is married to Ronisha and they will be celebrating their 14th anniversary on March 15 (that's right, he remembered).

Townsquare Media are proud to recognize this man as a Hometown Hero and present him with the Hometown Hero certificate of appreciation and a $50 gift card to Pignetti's Italian Restaurant.
