The Houston Chronicle reports that victims of Hurricane Harvey are the target of a social media sharing scam. People are being asked to copy and paste a message containing a phone number that will summon the National Guard for rescue.

The message reads "The National Guard is being deployed to our Texas area. If you find yourself in a state of emergency. Call 1-800-527-3907. Please copy, paste or share!"

The number is actually for an out-of-state insurance company. People should NOT share the message, and anyone in danger and in need of rescue should call 911.
