Will Killeen, Texas Decriminalize Marijuana?

According to The Killeen Daily Herald, an effort is underway to gather signatures on a petition to decriminalize low-level marijuana possession in Killeen, Texas.

Ground Game Texas, the same group that got decriminalize low-level marijuana possession on the Austin ballot for May, is leading the petition.

Legalize It

Work needs to be done to get the ordinance on the ballot in Killeen. At least 2,500 signatures are needed from registered Killeen voters before the group can present it to the city. If you'd like to sign the petition, click HERE for all the details.

Ground Game Texas also plans to work on decriminalization of low-level marijuana possession in Harker Heights.

Decriminalization Is Not Legalization

It's important to note that decriminalization is not the same as legalization. If the new law passes in Killeen or Harker Heights, it doesn't legalize recreation use of weed, it just prevents police from enforcing low-level possession charges. Baby steps, but definitely progress.
