There are a lot of myths, misinformation and straight up BS about cars, how they work and how to best drive and maintain them. Some of 'em are true, some aren't and believing a couple could be downright dangerous.
Let's look at a few of the untrue ones and hopefully save you some grief.
I had family members that used to feed us all kinds of crap about cars and driving. Like rolling the windows down to stay cool used less gas than running the A/C. (That's partly true, it depends on your speed.) Another one was "premium" gas improves performance. Notsomuch. If your car doesn't specifically call for it, you're just wasting money.
Car Myths That Are Not True
There are plenty of things about cars and driving that people still believe even though modern technology has made a lot of them obsolete. Some were never really true in the first place.
I had an uncle that swore going over speed bumps at an angle was somehow better for your suspension than hitting them straight on. (False) My friends Dad was convinced his truck was better than his car in snow or on ice ... and some people still do ... when the exact opposite is true. (They're not as heavy in the back as a car, in case you didn't know.)

There's a grain of truth to most of these ... meaning, they may have been true once upon a time ... but, thanks to modern technology, today, notsomuch. When in doubt, check with your mechanic. Or, call me - I know a bunch of good mechanics.
