KCEN Meteorologist Patrick Crawford Addresses Shooting at Press Conference
For the first time since being shot while leaving work last week, KCEN meteorologist Patrick Crawford spoke to reporters about the attack during a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
During the press conference, Crawford addressed reports that he and the gunman spoke shortly before the shooting.
“The one thing that I do want to state about the incident that I was reading online and everything is that the man who shot me didn’t say any words to me,” he said. “There was no interaction whatsoever. He just started shooting at me as I was leaving the parking lot of KCEN.”
“Hopefully the description that I gave the Texas Rangers and the police…is going to help bring this person to justice,” he added, reiterating that he did not know the suspect.
Crawford did not speak in detail about the attack and told the press he was focused on healing and getting back to his family. He asked that his privacy and that of his family be respected, but thanked everyone who reached out via social media to express support.
Crawford was shot shortly after 9 AM Wednesday, December 17 while leaving the offices of KCEN-TV. Despite the injuries to his torso and arm, Crawford was able to drive a short distance from the building before stopping to flag down construction workers for help. He was then taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital where is still undergoing treatment.
Police have released a sketch of the suspect , and a $20,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the man’s arrest.
