It's official--it's time to pump your brakes in Killeen. On Tuesday, Killeen City Council voted to lower speed limits on two key thoroughfares--US Highway 190 and Farm-to-Market 2410.

The change comes as a result of a request by the Texas Department of Transportation to lower speed limits while the state agency makes repairs on US Highway 190. Between W.S. Young Drive and Fort Hood's Main Gate, speeds on US Highway 190 will decrease by 5 m.p.h.  In addition, the section of highway from Stan Schlueter to Farm-to-Market 2410 will also drop 5 m.p.h.

We're glad to see the city doing something to help keep highway workers safe--but COME ON!  Traffic on US 190 is already slow enough.
