Will The New Pope Hold To Tradition Or Embrace Acceptance?

Sometimes I think the networks go overboard on the Pope-watch thing.
All three network anchors are in Rome and we’re getting minute-by-minute reports on the color of the smoke. But maybe not. I saw something fascinating last night. On CNN, Anderson Cooper, himself a gay man, moderated a debate between two priests of the Catholic Church – one traditional and the other progressive. The one wanted to hold to Biblical beliefs while the other lobbied for acceptance of homosexuality and other perversions of modern society in the age of Obama. I don’t expect another John Paul the Second – he was a giant on the world stage and a man in the right place at the right time.
But the new Pope automatically becomes the preeminent religious leader in the world. If he embraces the current trend of accepting anything – any lifestyle – as normal, the world will change even faster – on it’s way down.
