Killeen Kmart Evacuated After Bomb Threat
A Kmart store in Killeen was evacuated Thursday evening following a bomb threat. A caller reportedly demanded a ransom from employees and indicated that three armed people were in the building to enforce the demand.
Police responded to the store at 1101 South Fort Hood St. shortly after 5 p.m. and conducted a search of the building. They found no evidence of a bomb or any gunmen. The location was cleared around 6 p.m.
That Kmart, along with surrounding businesses, was evacuated on December 2 of last year after a similar threat. Police found no evidence of an explosive device following the incident.
