President Obama Joins the Fort Hood Community for a Memorial Service Honoring Those Killed in the April 2 Shooting
President Obama and the First Lady joined the Fort Hood community in mourning the three soldiers killed in last week's shooting on post.
Sgt. First Class Daniel Michael Ferguson, 39, of Mulberry, Florida, Staff Sgt. Carlos A. Lazaney-Rodriguez, 38, of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and Sgt. Timothy Wayne Owens, 37, of Effingham, Illinois were killed, 16 others were wounded.
The soldier who opened fire, Spc. Ivan Lopez killed himself when he was confronted by Military Police. The investigation continues, as officials try to find out why Lopez opened fire on his fellow soldiers. Fort Hood officials did say Lopez argued with other soldiers about a leave form just before the shooting.
