Thursday Marks First Anniversary of Shooting at Fort Hood
Today marks the 1st anniversary of an April 2, 2014 shooting at Fort Hood that left four soldiers dead, including the gunman.
Sgt. Timothy Owens, Staff Sgt. Carlos A. Lazaney-Rodriguez, and Sgt. 1st Class Danny Ferguson were killed after Spc. Ivan Lopez were killed and 16 others were injured when Spc. Ivan Lopez went on an 8-minute long shooting spree. The violence ended when an MP confronted Lopez in a parking lot, at which point Lopez shot himself in the head.
A private ceremony was held Thursday to honor the memory of those killed and share stories about that day. A remembrance walk hosted by the Fort Hood chapter of Team Red, White, and Blue is scheduled to begin at Killeen's Lion's Club Park at 5:30 p.m.
