KWTX reported that the Killeen Police Department has released the name of the suspect involved in a shooting that was officer related on Thursday.

Spokeswoman of Killeen Police Department, Ofelia Miramontez, said in a press release that Mario Martin, 29 of Killeen is in custody.

Martin is being charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant and one charge of Evading Arrest in a vehicle.

Killeen Police Department said, "Martin was injured Thursday afternoon near Elms Road at the intersection of South Fort Hood Street in Killeen after an officer-involved shooting." The Killeen Police Department also added, "A chase began in the Cantabrian area just before 4 p.m. after the driver of a black SUV refused to stop."

The authorities have not said why exactly they were trying to get the driver to pull over. A short chase began with Martin and the Killeen Police Department; which ultimately led to a crash. Killeen Police Department said, "The driver crashed into another black SUV and then rammed into a police cruiser at the intersection of Elms Road and South Fort Hood Street."

After these events, this is when a officer had to open fire on Martin. The shooting led to Martin being airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple. The Texas Rangers are taking the reigns of the investigation, as reported by Killeen Police Department.
