Our partners at News 10 report that KPD officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Watercrest Road Tuesday, July 5 shortly after 8 PM. When they arrived, officers saw paramedics trying to save the life of a man who appeared to have severe burn wounds. He was taken to Advent Health, where he passed away as a result of those injuries.

MULTIPLE AGENCIES INVESTIGATING

KCEN-TV reports that Killeen PD criminal investigation detectives are working with the Killeen Fire Marshal's Office to determine what happened to this poor man. They did not release the name of the victim.

WE ALL HAVE TO BE CAREFUL

Investigators haven't said how the man may have been burned, but given how dangerously hot and dry conditions are right now, it's worth reminding everyone to please be careful around the house and outdoors.

We get so many news releases from area fire departments each month about fires that were caused by people leaving the kitchen while they've got food on the stove or not extinguishing their coals before putting their grill away. In many cases, people didn't even have smoke detectors installed.

If you've got leftover fireworks that you're still blasting off going into the weekend, I can't stop you, but I'd ask that you at least be mindful of how dry the grass is and think about whether or not you want to be responsible for a wildfire.

Just some things to think about.
