There are many wonderful and fantastic people in Killeen, Texas. As someone who just moved to the area as well, I'm always learning about causes that deserve to be supported. On August 26th, I met a man and father named Chad Davis.

Who is Chad Davis?

Chad Davis is a man you should definitely need to know and meet. He is putting together the second edition of a golf tournament called Big Love, From Lizzie. Lizzie was Chad's daughter, who unfortunately passed away from cancer.

Lizzie Tennyson, The Valiant Young Woman

Lizzie had leukemia, and in my conversation with Chad, he revealed she had the disease from the age of 13. Lizzie passed away in 2020, after fighting the disease for 9 years.

To help honor her memory, Chad created a charity golf tournament with the main to raise money for B.I.G Love Cancer Care. The organization's main goal is to simply help young children through cancer treatment.

From the B.I.G Love's website: "The organization’s primary mission is to bring immediate care through physical, emotional and financial support to cancer kids and their families every single day."

In the first edition, Chad told me that the first edition of the event raised over $100,000 for B.I.G Love. He also stated that the second event is set to break the initial record they set last year.

There's much more than just a golf tournament. Chad also told us about a silent and live auction that will take place during the event. The auction will also be open to the public.

Final thoughts

As someone who has seen how leukemia affects family, and having lost a family friend to the disease, it is more important than ever that Central Texas citizens support this event. No child should ever have to deal with cancer during their childhood.
