Killeen to Discuss Recycling Program
Killeen City Council will discuss the implementation of a mandatory citywide recycling program, beginning with a financial analysis.
A June poll indicated that the program had about 57 percent support in the community, but the current voluntary recycling program has a low participation rate.
If adopted, the program is expected to cost approximately $4.6 million. Costs would be covered through an estimated increase of $2.50 in residential trash bills. Residents may be able to save money through the use of a smaller trash bin and avoiding the use of another dumpsite due to scarcity of space at the Temple Landfill.
The City Council Workshop will be held tonight at 5 p.m. at the Killeen Utility Collections Building.
