Temple police are investigating a collision involving two motorcycles and a truck that cost one biker his life and seriously injured the other.

Brandon Hamilton with our news partner, KWTX, reports that 56-year-old Ian Ruston was driving southbound along 317 in a Ford pickup when he attempted a U-turn. His vehicle was struck by Michael Abel, 55, of China Spring, who was traveling north on a Harley Davidson.

The crash resulted in Abel's bike colliding with another driven by a man identified as Vicente Navejas, 54.

Abel was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, where he was later pronounced dead. Navejas was also transported to Baylor Scott & White with injuries described as "incapacitating".

Police say Ruston appeared to have been intoxicated, and was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Bell County Jail records indicate Ruston was booked into the facility at 11:21 PM Friday, October 5. He remained on the jail's roster Sunday afternoon in liue of bonds totaling $1,500.
