Nolan Middle School Student Arrested for Bomb Hoax
A 12-year-old Killeen ISD student was arrested Tuesday and charged with a felony after school officials say he caused a bomb scare.
In a release sent to parents, district officials said a Nolan Middle School sixth grader made a hoax bomb threat against the school. The threat was taken seriously, and Killeen ISD police conducted a search of the building. Fortunately, no explosives were found and the student confessed to having lied.
The student has been charged with making a terroristic threat. The student's name has not been released.
Another student who reportedly posted a rumor about the threat on social media also faces discipline.
Superintendent John Craft called the incident a "serious crime", and urged parents to "please talk to your children and help us to get them to understand that making a threat against the school is a very serious crime and that if they do it, we will arrest them and send them to jail. Please also talk to your children about not spreading these kinds of rumors because this needlessly alarms students and parents alike. Any student who is found to be recklessly spreading hoax reports like this will face discipline from the school.”
