Oh No! Who Crashed Into This Beloved Killeen, Texas Restaurant?

There are not many Chinese restaurants in Killeen, Texas, so when we find one we really like we hold onto it as long as possible. But this is Killeen, so we're just not allowed to have nice things.

There may not be many Chinese places worth writing home about in our town, but one very tasty and popular place would have to be Wong’s Palace at 2201 S W S Young Dr.

Everyone's welcome at Wong's Palace, but they do ask that you park outside. Sadly, someone decided to break that rule on Tuesday, May 24. Listener Kimberly Nicole Jeffrey was there and shared these photos. Jeffrey told me the whole thing happened in the blink of an eye.

WHAT HAPPENED EXACTLY?

It turns out a poor choice of footwear may be behind the crash.

The woman who drove her vehicle into the building was reportedly wearing old, worn-out shoes, and when they tried to press on her break, their foot slipped and they hit the gas.

WAS EVERYONE SAFE?

Thankfully no one inside the restaurant was hurt. The driver didn't seem to be seriously injured and was treated at the scene.

Wong's Palace is definitely one of those restaurants Killeen can't afford to lose. We’re not exactly sure how soon the restaurant will be back in one piece, but we are happy that no one was harmed.
