Seniors Rescued From Flooded Texas Nursing Home
Several senior citizens and staff at a Galveston County nursing home were rescued Sunday hours after a photo of them stranded in the flooded home went viral on Twitter.
KWTX reports that 19 seniors and five staff members were evacuated from La Vita Bella Assisted Living Center in low-lying Dickinson.
The photo was taken by the owner and sent to her son-in-law in Florida, who posted it to Twitter. The owner's daughter told The Galveston Daily News her mother hoped the photo would get the attention of the National Guard and result in a rescue. Thankfully, it worked.
