TxDOT's interactive Road Watchers Truck rolls into Buc-ee's in Temple Saturday, April 29, and gives drivers the opportunity to test their safe driving skills and compete with friends.

While you don't get to be behind the wheel, you do have the fun opportunity to prove you know more about safe driving than your spouse or best buddy. You'll both sit in the backseat of the truck and watch a driving simulation. Whoever does a better job of identifying the what's right or wrong about the ride in the fastest time wins the bragging rights and gets to drive on every road trip from now on!*

The fun begins at 11 AM and runs until 4 PM in the Buc-ee's parking lot, 4155 N. General Bruce Drive in Temple.

The Road Watchers Truck is part of TxDOT's "Be Safe. Drive Smart." initiative, with which they hope to encourage Texans to use better judgment and be more responsible behind the wheel.

According to TxDOT, there were 548,547 vehicle crashes on Texas roads in 2016, which resulted in 3,766 fatalities and 17,501 serious injuries. That was a 5% increase over 2015. Let's try to get that number lowered for 2017, shall we?

*(We cannot guarantee your spouse or buddy won't call "driver" on your next trip. Hopefully you at least get shotgun.)
