Help join the fight to end child abuse in Central Texas by becoming a foster parent.

Friday morning, Temple College will host a free conference for foster parents, and those of you who would like to be foster parents, at their East Campus Building - 2600 South 1st. St.

The McLane's Children's Foster Conference starts at 7:30 a.m. and goes to 3:30 p.m. This conference fulfills half of the yearly continuing education requirement for current foster parents (5 hours), and is a good start to the education needed for those who want to become foster parents. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Our area has a high rate of abuse for children. Because of this, we are in need of more foster parents. Last year, Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's hospital saw nearly 900 cases of abuse.

If suffering physical or sexual abuse wasn't horrific enough, some of these same children then find themselves without a home or family. Being a foster parents can make a difference by providing a loving, safe home and a chance at a better life.
