KWTX reported from the Associated Press that six El Salvadoran migrants were killed in an SUV crash in South Texas on Wednesday.

Five other El Salvdoran migrants were severely injured when a SUV attempting to evade authorities crashed into a drainage ditch.

Daniel Lorberau, Nueces County Sheriff's Captain said, Robstown authorities were pursuing the SUV late Tuesday night, but stopped because of the rainy conditions.

Two people walking who were injured, told authorities about the wreck that had taken place early Wednesday morning. Lorberau said the SUV was traveling up to speeds as fast 50 miles per hour when the crash occurred.

Several individuals had to be extricated from the vehicle, and taken to hospitals. Besides the dead and severely injured; there were also three other people who suffered less severe injuries.
