A teenager suspected of gunning down two men in Temple was arrested in San Angelo this week.

17-year-old Lupe Martinez Chappa III was wanted in connection to the April 13 murder of Jonathan Hess, 26, and Vicente Hernandez, 36, at a home in the 400 block of North 7th St.

The arrest came after the Bell County District Attorney's Office issued an affidavit for murder naming Chappa. A warrant was obtained, and the Temple Police Department worked with the Texas Rangers, the Department of Public Safety, and San Angelo police to locate Chappa and take him into custody.

At 7:38 PM on the night of April 13, 2016, Temple police were called to the 400 block of North 7th after a report of shots fired. When they arrived, they found Hess and Hernandez, both of whom suffered gunshot wounds. Hess was pronounced dead at the scene, and Hernandez later died as a result of his injuries at Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

Authorities have not commented on how they came to suspect Chappa.
