Two adults and three children are temporarily without a home after theirs was damaged by smoke and fire early Tuesday morning.

According to Thomas Pechal with Temple Fire & Rescue, fire crews arrived at 209 South 20th Street at 2:08 AM and saw flames coming from the front porch. The fire was under control by 2:24 AM. The front porch and attic received fire damage, as did one interior room. The rest of the home received smoke and heat damage.

Thankfully, two adults and three children were able to escape the home without injury. They are being aided by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation late Tuesday morning.
