Temple Mayor pro tem Judy Morales Resigns

Temple Mayor pro tem Judy Morales resigned her post at a press conference today, Thursday March 20.

Speaking in the City Council chambers, Morales thanked her supporters and apologized for “dissension and division among citizens” caused by the controversy surrounding her.

“We should love our community and work to improve it, not divide and destroy it,” she said. “It is my prayer that we become a community united and not divided and work together.”

While Morales did not go into detail about the legal issues that prompted calls for her resignation, she expressed her belief in the justice system and once again asserted that she had never lied or misused public funds.
