Temple Package Thefts on the Rise
Temple police are warning of a rise in packages being stolen from the porches of area homes.
In a media release issued Monday, TPD spokesperson Shawana Neely said the following neighborhoods have been recent targets:
6400 and 6600 blocks of Springwood Court
2700 and 4100 blocks of Michaels Drive
3900 block of Mariam Drive
S 31st St and Warwicke Drive
3900 block of Lark Trail
Witnesses to some of the thefts in these areas described two suspicious men spotted between the hours of Noon and 3PM.
The first suspect is described as a white bald man around the age of 35 standing approximately 5'10" with a tattoo on his leg. The other suspect is reportedly a Hispanic man, but police did not release more details about him.
The pair were seen driving either a gray, older model four-door Cadillac, a white Chevy Astro van with a tire mounted on the back, or a white Jeep with a magnetic sign on the back.
Police recommend taking the following precautions to ensure the safety of your packages:
Have your packages delivered to your office.
Have you packages delivered to a neighbor who is home.
Request signed confirmation upon delivery.
If you are going out of town for an extended period of time, contact your post office and have delivery of mail and packages suspended.
With the holidays approaching, thieves may be driving through neighborhoods looking for unguarded packages. If you see anything suspicious, please contact the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.
