Temple Teacher Awarded New Car for Attendance Record
Wouldn't it be nice to be rewarded for showing up to work every day?
Ah, wait. That's what paychecks are for...
Anyway, Temple ISD and Johnson Bros. decided to give away something big to celebrate the time and dedication of teachers and staff.
Chelsea Edwards with our news partner, KWTX, reports that the contest tallied the attendance of eligible teachers and staff, then named a winner from three finalists. Debra Blankenship, a fourth-grade teacher at Ray Allen Elementary, drove away in a brand-new Ford Escape.
Blankenship said she plans to give the car to her daughter, who's just graduated from college.
KWTX reports that this was Blankenship's first year teaching for the district. What a way to cap your first year!
