TEMPLE, TEXAS - One thing I’ve learned about Temple is that as family friendly as it is, people here really know how to party, and they'll find any excuse to do it. It's a good thing we're in Oktoberfest season, because that's definitely a good reason to celebrate Texas' German roots and the best food and drink our community has to offer.

COME OUT AND ENJOY OKTOBERFEST IN TEMPLE

The folks at Bold Republic Brewing Company are inviting the good people of Central Texas to join them for an Oktoberfest celebration this Saturday, October 1. You'll find them at 7070 Stonehollow Dr, and the festivities start at 10AM and go 'til 11:30 PM.

Find your tickets here.

They'll have all sorts of brews on tap, including several with an autumn taste (including pumpkin ale). They'll also have German food and live music, because you'll definitely need to keep the party atmosphere going with all this fine beer flowing.

TEXAS PUTS A SPIN ON THE TRADITIONAL OKTOBERFEST

Oktoberfest is the world's largest beer celebration, and it’s just downright fun. Here in Texas, we decided to take the tradition to the next level and do it our way. That's because Texas is a state with a strong German heritage streak. According to Texas Time Travel, around 40,000 Germans immigrated to Texas between 1865 and 1900, and many of them settled here in Central Texas.

So if anyone tries to tell you this is just another excuse to drink, school them on some Texas history, then scold them for trying to throw a wet blanket on an excuse to drink!
